Ulugh Beg as portrayed in the Ulugh Beg Madrasa in Samarkand. Note that the celestial globe in this fictional modern representation is not a 15th-century Islamic globe but a 17th-century European globe.

This website is dedicated to the Timurid ruler and astronomer-mathematician Ulugh Beg who is best known for the large astronomical observatory which he built in Samarkand.

Note that this bio-bibliographical website is still under development and that large portions of text and literature still have to be added.

I have decided to upload it to the internet so that, even incomplete, it may be of some use to others.
