Summary
Well, everyone should know him by now and if you didn't then this is your
chance to get to know him well. This compilation of just about every
Fie CD available I heard is very cheap, so that shuold not be a problem and
moreover it gives you the chance to buy any Fie CD for only 7 Pounds Sterling
including postage and all that. This is very cheap. So if you ever had
the mind to get any of his albums (they have to have been released on Fie
of course then get to it and don't even bother to finish this review).
You can even for this price order the double live CD Roomtemperaturelive.
The music
Well, not much to tell here, or is there? Hmm, well, since everybody's
now off to get their hands on this thing, I might as well mumble to myself
a little. Striking isn't it, that from Fireships he has selected both
the two best and also the weakest (most commercial) track. Also from
The Noise, which wasn't too strong an album he selected both two good
and one weak track (Kick to Kill the Kiss). I'm missing Primo on the
Parapet here, but that track is also kind of long. From Roaring Forties
the selection is not that good, because Sharply Unclear is a good song, but
the other songs are certainly not as good. Gift of Fire is a little tiring
and Your Tall Ship is too soft. What is left are two of the best tracks
of the best eighties album, Patience. Also interesting is A Ritual Mask,
the only track not known to me, when I got this. It's from Loops and Reels.
Made me decide to try and get my hands on, using that inlay card.
I'm still wondering whether I will also order There Goes the Daylight.
Unfortunate is the fact that this album is a companion to the noise, which
makes it less desirable.
The only track I missed on this album is Accidents which is from Enter K.
You might have noticed that the album does not contain any X My Heart stuff,
but you can order it, so don't worry.
Conclusion
don't pass up on this one.
I'm not saying it is good, because hey this is a compilation, but if you've
never heard this guy, then this is your chance and a means to get your
hands on some of his CDs which might not be easily found in your
neighbourhood.
