astronomy study requirements from 2004-5

  yr2    BSc astron track: NS-252B + NS-253B  + NS-281B
  yr3    BSc astron track: 2 or more AAC courses + 15ects research + choice
  yr4-5  Drs: 5 AAC courses + 5sp Astrovaria + 41sp research + 13sp choice
         MSc Astrophys: 8 AAC courses + 60ects research

  - units: 1 ects = 0.7 sp, 1 sp = 1 week = 1.43 ects, 1 yr = 60 ects
  - sizes: all UU astronomy courses are 7.5 ects (5.25 sp) except for
           NS-253B = 3.75 ects
           NS-281B = 3.75 ects
           IAC = 6 ects
           most masters courses at other NL (NOVA) universities are 6 ects 
  - Bachelor Natuur- and Sterrenkunde = yr1-3   
      Major: no further subdivision, everybody = "Bachelor Nat. + Ster."
      "astronomy track" = advised for Masters at NL (NOVA) universities
      Minor astronomy: external students, 30/45 ects with some 
        courses obligatory, see link on website above
  - Drs: yr2 + yr3 see Studiegids
  - Masters Astrophysics = yr4-5 
  - Masters entry requirement: 30 ects astronomy NOVA bachelor, or admission
  - AAC = "Advanced Astrophysics Course" = level 4 course on astronomy

  - IAC: given once per academic year, usually in Utrecht, 6 ects
