The Design

The first FM radios were introduced in the Netherlands in 1950 (the Philips BX700A) and broadcasts started around that time. Not many FM sets were sold in the beginning because they were expensive and the programs merely copied what could already be heard on MW. Around 1955 the piano-key design became popular and sets with a rotary bandswitch became obsolete. This radio combines the modern FM with the good old rotary switch.
