The Design

The first generation stereo radios did not have a stereo decoder built in. The set could be used to play records or tapes in stereo, and could be extended with a plug-in decoder. These decoders are extremely rare, almost no radio has this extra.

Sound samplePLAY SOUND   If you are as old as this radio, you will certainly remember this charming blond singer. It is Olivia Newton John, recorded from this radio on October 29, 2005. She brought about a lot of dreams, but these didn't all come alive!

This Object

The radio was sold to me as defective, and it was. The speaker wires had been cut, and a few holes drilled in the cabinet to allow a headphone being connected over the speaker output. And this while the speaker jackets were available at the back. Rewiring the speakers brought the radio back to life, and with very good sound and reception quality.
