The Design
FM modules based on the TEA5767 IC can be bought for about one euro. Unfortunately, the IC must be digitally controlled so to build a receiver, an additional microprocessor is necessary. The idea behind this design is to disconnect the oscillator LC tank from the controlling circuitry. Instead, the oscillator is controlled by a potmeter.

This Object
Execution of this idea is not so simple! The modules are really, really small. So at least you need microtools and microscopes to do the cutting and soldering; see Pieter here in his lab. After this, my prototype remained as silent as dead. Once I thought I vaguely heard a flard of noise (with the output connected to the Orion R636F), but this was not reproducable. So I abandoned the project in August 2015.
