The Design

The LX422AB compares favourably to other tube radios of the same era: it has three bands, and can be supplied from mains. This makes it also a handy second set in the house. It is built with a sturdy metal chassis, almost like a mains set, but with everything smaller.

This Object

It was brought to me for repair. I first noticed that part of the dropping resistor was bridged by a modern resistor, but this appeared to be done quite good so I didn't touch it. The reason why the radio didn't work was an interrupted IF coil, which I bypassed with a resistor and a capacitor. Then I found out that the dial chord was wrongly wound, so I had to pull the chassis and rewind it.
