The Design

Like many tube voltmeters, this machine has no amplification but inserts the measured voltage directly to the control grid of one of two tubes (E80F). This causes a difference in the current through the tubes which moves the meter. The source is DC-coupled to the bridge: indeed if AC is to be measured, it is detected (converted to DC) right in the measurement pin. This is in contrast to the extremely sensitive specialised voltage meters GM6005 (for AC) and GM6020. These are AC coupled, and in the GM6020 a vibrator is used to convert DC to a block AC.

This Object

My set is rather complete with all kinds of measurement cables. As the inside picture shows, it is in good condition also internally. Some ranges are outside the specified accuracy.
