The Design
In the seventies it was very common to have a stereo set consisting of separate units, and connect it to a pair of speakers like this one. Cheap sets had loudspeakers that were just one speaker in a (usually wood) box, but the more expensive types had separate bass and treble speakers and an electric tone separation filter.

This Object
Inside picture shows the two speakers and the coils. Philips used quite strong and big magnets for the speakers, and the sound is correspondingly good. I bought these for my Philips Capella, later used them with my HK195 mini amp, and after that with my Truck Amp.
