The Design

The power is supplied by an autotransformer with taps at 220V (mains in), 124V (B+ supply) and 50V (heaters). The heater chain has three 6V/300mA tubes in series, and then the two other tubes, both 35V/150mA in parallel. Often the combination of series and parallel supply bears the risk of loosing both of the parallel tubes when one filament breaks (or the tube misses), but as the entire chain is fed with only 50V it will be fine in tis situation.

This Object

The radio just needed a minor overhaul: replacement of a fuse, a handful capacitors, and one resistor. The chassis is nicely built using a PCB; a nuisance with these early PCBs is that often the copper tracks get loose from the board. The dating is an educated guess from the use of a PCB and the modern tubes. And the type number, why not...
