The Design

This unit has a beautifully simple but functional design. The chassis is built up with the power supply and the CRT (with brightness and focussing controls), but the horizontal and vertical deflection units are seperate modules that can be taken out of the oscilloscope and changes if required. Besides connections to the power supply, these units only have direct connections to the CRT deflection plates and one wire between them for synchronization.

This Object

When I switched it on there was a small firework in the power supply, but this could be easily repaired by the replacement of a resistor. I also replaced one tube because the vertical sensitivity was below specs. Then the machine became quite cooperative. The picture on the left shows the internal calibration square wave.
