For some time I had been longing for one of these Russian multiband portables. This one was fairly prices and in good condition.

The VEF radios (predecessor of this machine was the VEF204) were famous for their good reception and low battery consumption.
The dating is a rather wild guess. Clearly this kind of machine was produced during a long period of time. It seems that the design of the VEF204 goes back as far as 1960 (which I find hard to believe actally) and at the other hand, radios like these were sold new in Cuba around 1989, thirty years later. This picture shows the VEF12.
