Pedalling long distances (slowly and steady)
Utrecht, The Netherlands

In June 2023, I attended the 19th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Law in Braga (Portugal) - travelling by bike, obviously. After three months, 6017 km and seven countries in 55 ''etappes'' (+1 bonus) and many bike repairs, I arrived back in Utrecht!
Finally, a non-virtual conference! In September 2022, I attended the conference on Computational Models of Argument in Cardiff. To make this even more memorable, I decided to go by bike (and ferry).
In the spring of 2022 I joined my former student orchestra on tour to play in Germany and Czech Republic. This 11-day cycle tour turned out to be a great alternative for sitting in the bus for a couple of days - although my tuba preferred the orchestra van over my bike's luggage carrier.
Gently pushing the boundaries of the Netherlands in yet another lockdown. The country turned out to be not as small as I thought, so after a first holiday of nine days I needed another to finish the tour.
My first big trip, in which I tried to cycle to Italy on my old beloved high school bike. Unfortunately the bike collapsed at 2500m above sea level, albeit with a great view from the Glockner Hochalpenstraße. Continuing my journey by car and bus was not as much fun, so on my way back I bought a second-hand bike in a student shop in Innsbruck, to cycle back home along the Rhine.
