Practicum 4, 25 August 2009, 11:00-12:30

1. I
nstall your personal copy of the MATLAB bifurcation toolbox MatCont:
    (a) copy the file matcont.zip to the Desktop.   
   
(b) unzip the just copied file (right-click on it and select WinZip -> Extract to here). The folder matcont will be created that contains all MatCont files.
    (c) start MATLAB by selecting Start -> All Programs -> MATLAB -> R2009a -> MATLAB R2009a and choose matcont to be your Current directory.
    (d) enter mex -setup in the MATLAB Command window and select lcc as the default C-compiler.

2. Follow COMPUTER SESSION I to learn how to use MatCont to simulate multidimensional ODEs and make all Additional Problems listed at the end of the session text.

3. If you have some time left, follow COMPUTER SESSION III to learn how to use MatCont to study codim 1 bifurcations of periodic orbits.
