Dynamics of Estuarine Turbidity Maxima (ETM):coupling of morphology and biology
LOICZ project 014.27.013 Dr. Stefan Talke - Prof. Dr. Victor de Jonge - Prof. Dr. Huib de Swart People
Stefan received his PhD in 2005 from the University of California, Berkeley for work that concentrated on the hydrodynamics and sediment dynamics of an intertidal mudflat in the central San Francisco Bay. Currently he is working as a post-doc in Huib de Swart's coastal group at the Institute for Atmospheric and Marine Sciences, Utrecht (IMAU). He thoroughly enjoys working on the Ems estuary, which because of its high sediment concentrations poses unique measurement and modelling challenges. Stefan also enjoys living in Utrecht very much. For more information, see Stefan's homepage. Victor de Jonge is a professor of biology at the University of Groningen. For more information, see Victor's homepage.
Huib de Swart is the leader of the coastal group in physical oceanography at the IMAU. For more information, please see Huib's homepage. Students involved in our project include Karin Huijts (PhD), Verena Brauer (PhD), and Robbert Schippers (Msc). Many other scientists are helping us as well. For a full list of contact information, see the "participants" page.
The ETM group is part of the coastal group of the physical oceanography section fo the Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies, Utrecht (IMAU). The IMAU is part of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Utrecht, Netherlands.
This project is financed by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO, see http://www.nwo.nl/), section Earth & Life Sciences (ALW), as part of the program 'Land-Ocean Interaction in the Coastal Zone' (LOICZ).
